Early Homecoming First, thank you for reading this page. I guarantee that it means a lot for the missionary that you are trying to help. If you are reading this page, to help themselves, thank you for that as well. I am a firm believer that we can not help others until we help ourselves.I went to a meeting a while back, which focuses on missionaries who come home early. At the meeting, several leaders of the community, which seemed to help in a complete loss during the question and answer session for what is to be done to these missionaries were. I want to address some of the questions now brought: (1) How am I supposed to act in a missionary who comes home early?
With love. Love is what the Mission has the most right now. It is not the place to throw judgment, even if the missionary came home early because of sin. This is place of the Lord (see Mormon 8:20) .Put his arm around his shoulder and say, "Welcome home" and "thank you." These are words that wants to hear every missionary. Then, if there are things that can be solved, if it falls under the administration of solving them, you have to do this kind, understanding and loving way in most.
Make sure the missionary feels as if he or she can trust you. Kindness, understanding and love go a long way in this gospel.Encourage other community members to be kind. Help the missionary feel safe in the church. According to a study done at the University of Utah ", 34 percent of those who went back early by a period of inactivity in the Church. One third of Nevermore in activity." That's a problem. My guess is that the missionaries do not feel welcome in the Church and where we people do not feel welcome, we are not going to go. If (2) please report to the Sanhedrin? Yes.
They are still returned missionaries and they have much to say to say about their missions and their experiences. This is also a great way for ward leaders to consider how the missionaries who help to get home early to learn. If we do not encourage their mission to share experiences, as we will ever know whether the missionaries, the early home experience various missions, as those who do not come? My guess is that the experiences largely done the same and just as valuable as the experience of someone who expected to be completed with the times, but I can not say for sure, because there is not much research on that.
Now I have been asked to report to the council when I got home, but I did not because I did not feel as if I had met a complete mission and my experiences were therefore invaluable. These thoughts were not the result of my community leaders conduct towards me, but my own distorted thoughts. Therefore, understanding if a missionary does not feel like reporting to the council, but be encouraged that they so do all the same. I wish I had reported, but then again, I do not know if it's time was to have a good experience for me. (3) What should we call missionaries who come home early? If you require them something, please call returned missionaries or rms. Please do not call them "early returned missionaries" or "ERM." I realize that these concepts begin to be increasingly popular as more and more people are beginning to address this problem. I understand that they are not intended to cause harm.
I understand that "sooner returned missionaries" less wordy as "missionaries who come home early," and that "ERM" is a nice shortcut. But these terms sting. You do not have the same connotations that "mission accomplished" or "RM" does. Missionaries who come home feeling marked early on. Let's not even a label to add it. Let us recognize the good that they have in the area and call them returned missionaries. (4) Should we encourage the young men to return to the mission as soon as possible? After all, it is their priesthood responsibility.Missionary work is volunteer work, not the work required.
They do not believe me? See Chapter 2 in mission preparation guide for the student. In this chapter are many good points about missionaries properly prepared to serve a full-time mission, and this statement by President Gordon B. Hinckley: "Missionary work is not a rite of passage in the Church, it is a call of the President of the Church to those who. worthy and able they are to deal with extended ... Good physical and mental health is critical ... There are parents who say, "If only we can get Johnny on a mission, then the Lord is with him to bless health. "
It does not seem that way. Rather, what illness or physical or mental defects has a missionary when he is worse only under pressure from the work.We in the field comes easy it has the facts. We spend millions of dollars on medical care and countless hours of support people with problems that it impossible for them to do perform the work ... There are other areas in which people can work with heavy restrictions and a satisfying experience.
And the Lord will do for what they are able ... There should be an eagerness and the desire to serve the Lord as his ambassador to the world bless. And it must be health and strength, both physical and mental, for the work is demanding, the hours are long, and the stress can be heavy. "Missionary work is not a rite of passage, and yet we treat them often as such, especially for young people. Young women are often taught their young men encourage friends to serve a mission. Young women are also often taught anyone to marry, except for a returned missionary. This is a very sad reflection of a serious misunderstanding in our culture.
Missionary work is a good thing and vital, but it is not a requirement for all young think men.I, the misunderstanding comes from a misunderstanding of the Doctrine and Covenants 88:74. In this verse, the Lord of the brothers in the church is asking to prepare for it, to preach the Gospel. We think, therefore, that he should ask every young man to prepare, when in fact, my guess is that he only ask those who are prepared physically and emotionally. We know that the pioneers sacrificed much so that the men could serve a mission. Likewise, we are asked to sacrifice much. But we are not invited today to sacrifice our health.
There are many, many ways to think a missionary without a full-time mission.I today, it is advisable to prepare young men to serve a mission, and young women. But I do not think anyone should order less for not completing of itself able or even to start a mission will feel. I think great understanding should be located where people with mental and emotional concerns, and that the decision to serve a mission or return to a mission should be with love and compassion, not with violence, expectations or responsibilities.
Please pay attention to the ability of the missionary in the mission field or not return, and show any understanding for the concerns of the missionary throws. Here the missionary is better prepared to continue working full-time or as a member missionary.Thank for reading this page. I will add more questions and answers on this page as they come.
